Book Club Note: I’ve postponed June’s Book Club read - Derek Jarman’s Modern Nature. So let’s all take a break for a month, possibly two. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for understanding.

Retreat Tier Note: I’m postponing our June Retreat until July. The new date will be: Saturday 12th July, 4pm - 7pm UK time. Log-on details are here.

The operation was a success. Once the surgeons could take a good look around, it turned out that H’s right lung was barely functioning, and so they removed two whole lobes. This meant a full incision rather than the hoped-for keyhole surgery, and apparently that’s one of the more painful procedures. Recovery will be slower. There have also been some complications with his heart. So H is currently in Critical Care as I write, but he’s okay, and he’s even been able to stand up once. He’s getting absolutely incredible care, and we’re doing our best not to get in the way of it.

They’re the headlines. For the granular human bit, read on.
