That balaclava and the photograph of your mum in it is just wonderful!
My ex-partner's mum died last week, a woman so kind and caring she truly took up more space in my heart than my own mother (who'd have thought love and nurturing could be so complex?) and I have had this song in my head since, the lyrics to which make me cry with recognition, they're such a beautiful exploration of love and loss. I hope you find the same comfort in them that I do:
I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your Mum, Katherine. I hope you know you have everyone's support here to grieve as openly or privately as you need. Lots of care to you 💛
Sending you strength and condolences. I'm actually just checking back into substack myself, as my own mum quite sudden passed away on June 11 (from a very sudden and aggressive illness, we only had a few weeks to adapt). Part of my comfort now is nature, and among others I'm thinking fondly of the lessons you shared during our Kent retreat about a year ago. Wishing you well.
Oh, Katherine. I’m sorry. Losing a beloved parent is so hard—no matter the circumstances. Take all the time you need—and thank you for sharing her story and the pics with us. Sending big hugs. 🩷
May her memory be a blessing. 💕🙏💪
Love 💗 & condolences. May you find & feel all you need in your grief.
A beautiful tribute to your mom. Sending love (as someone who just lost her mom too) and keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
🙏❤️🫂
Oh, Katherine. I'm so sorry.
All my thoughts.
My thoughts are with you. Prayers as well if you don't mind. Take all that you need.
My thoughts are with you. Take time. I am glad you could be with your mum till the end.
No words seem right so just sending love...
