Hello,
This week, I was engrossed in this article about Margaret Wise Brown, most famously the author of Goodnight Moon (which I find completely sinister; I prefer The Color Kittens and The Dead Bird).
The article examines the developmental philosophy behind her children’s books, which emphasised contact with the real rather than the fantastical (although I’m not convinced she stuck to this - she was too interested in Freudian dream interpretation). She often spent time testing her ideas with groups of children, posing them questions aimed at sparking their creativity and their ability to make connections.
Reading the article, I was struck by how much I’d have liked to be one of those children, free-associating with Margaret Wise Brown. So I thought I’d put one of them to you today:
“What is the quietest and quickest thing you can think of?”
Don’t overthink it! Put your first thoughts in the comments.
I am SO looking forward to reading your responses!
Take care,
Katherine
This is now reminding me - someone once concinved me that SAS meant 'silent and sneaky'.
For some reason I immediately thought of a little mouse running through tunnels.
