Hello,
A couple of weeks ago, I made a short video about Wintering season beginning as soon as the summer holidays are over, and wow, that has come true. Everybody has remembered I exist! I’m not sure I entirely like it! WHERE IS MY HIBERNATION??!
Ahem. Back to business. October is going to be a busy month here at The Clearing, with a special Poetry Day event with Kate Fox, and a classic Book Club featuring Hilary Mantel’s Giving Up The Ghost and
of the excellent Noted Substack. This Saturday (4th October) sees our Quarterly online retreat for members of the Retret Tier (there’s still time to upgrade if you are craving some reflection time - personally, I can’t wait). And then I’m off to Utah and California at the end of the month to run a retreat and make some long-overdue visits to the bookstores who have been so supportive of my books.
Finally, the monthly writing-essentials draw has been incredibly popular - I knew you were basically all stationery geeks. This month’s box is now live, featuring three books this time - Kate Fox’s On Sycamore Gap, Hilary Mantel’s Giving Up the Ghost, a signed copy of The Electricity of Every Living Thing (by me), as well as stickers, my favourite refillable Herbin pen, Diamine ink, Blackwing pencils, a Rhodia notebook, lip balm, hand cream, and I couldn’t resist adding a pack of these lovely little mushroom bookmarks from Genuine Fred. I bought some for Bert and we all fell in love with them, so I’m spreading the joy. I’m going to need bigger boxes soon.
To be entered into the draw, all you need to do is take out or renew an annual subscription (and that includes Retreat Tier subs) - we’ll do the rest.
Wishing you a lovely October! November will be quieter, right? Please tell me November will be quieter.
Take care,
Katherine
