Barbara Pym!!! She’s fabulous. Can’t remember when I began reading her novels (decades ago?) but i never tire of reading and rereading them. So lovely to see her lauded

Isn't that the truth! Hurrah for Virago and Persephone. I can't remember when I first began reading Sylvia Townsend Warner and Barbara Pym, but I was forever changed when I eventually found the books A Very Great Profession by Nicola Beauman, and The Feminine Middlebrow by Nicole Humble. My people....and... my library! I even have a tattered paperback of Pym's The Sweet Dove Died, the only one of hers that Virago has not yet reprinted according to the essay you shred. Treasure.
