I love these seasonal celebrations! We don't have anything quite like it over here. Starting a playlist with these lovely songs.

Oh, and the parrots. I saw this story recently and was also fascinated--and heartbroken.

Can I share some Beltane memories from way back? I used to live in Edinburgh and their Beltane has always been a highlight. Was happily remembering while out in the dawn this morning. Drumming and wild joyfulness. https://www.flickr.com/photos/deililly/albums/72157600291822392/

Have you watched the director's cut of The Wicker Man? It's so much better than the theatrical version.

It's well worth it. Makes much more sense from a character POV.

If you fancy it, here's a podcast I did about it a while ago:

I love what you wrote about "The Thoughts of a Spiderweb". I can stare at spiderwebs, their intricacies, and their designs while thinking about how much work it takes to make one, big or small. I like to see where the spider goes once it senses me. Looking closely at its behavior, does it retreat or stand its ground? And how does it walk along those tiny web ropes without falling like an acrobat onto the soft, damp May ground?

I love all this. ‘Sumer Is Icumen In’ is always a favorite (this manuscript image is wonderful) and you’ve sent me down the most joyous Jack-in-the-Green/Morris rabbit hole. How fun to learn about Whitstable’s role in the revival!
