Thank you for making me feel less alone--and less like a life failure--by sharing your scattered life. I too seem to be pinballing around the past few weeks with my partner's health struggles, a water main break and the subsequent flood, job hunting, a fractious elderly parent, and living in America. Thank you for your garden pics, and god bless Public Enemy.

Oh no, a flood! That sounds terrible! Public Enemy will help, I promise!

ah, tender care. i go through these times of "did i really do that/is this really happening?" in life too, not that it makes yours any easier....except i am still alive! sending a love wrap to your home and all abiding there in.

I remember a time when I was similarly scattered and all my little mistakes seemed like further evidence of my uselessness. Thank you for showing that is not the only response available! Wishing H a good recovery and wishing you, H and Bert many glimmers of beauty and grace as you plod your way through this tricky time together

Ooh thank you for the book recs. God, Katherine, you really do have a lot on at the moment that you're juggling solo - I hope the knitting helps. Even if the colour work is tricky, you could possibly find something to stab with your needles to relieve some tension? Sending all the good thoughts for H's quickest recovery x

Maybe stabbing is the best plan. Although I'd probably injure myself in the process. Maybe I should stay away from sharp objects for a while.

Maybe knit some thrummed mittens (aka woolly boxing gloves to protect you. I will eventually knit some - I think they'd be perfect for after winter swimming)

You have such a lot going on at the moment (no criticism intended) so I'm not surprised that the glitches have been coming thick and fast. I'm impressed and glad that your sense of humour is still there. Best wishes to you and yours.

I hope you’re giving yourself lots of grace during this trying time. All the emotions and responsibilities you’re processing have your brain overheating like an overworked car engine on a scorching day. I can picture the steam coming out of the top of your head as your poor mind seeks a release. Sending you and yours healing thoughts, vibes, wishes, energy and prayers. 💕

Thank you Katherine for your grounded clarity of words. I have enjoyed your first book immensely during the pandemic. I found out I needed to write during the pandemic as well, and have not stopped. I love that you live in the UK; I miss visiting there. My daughter went to school in Norwich and Bangor and is back in the US. Heading to Scotland soon for a wedding but only after giving the garden adequate attention first. So healing to be out there planting seeds before the rain yesterday. A place to have my tears after losing a close friend and my lovely English lab recently. Enough said for now. Be well, take good care, and I look forward to your podcast and newsletters. Thank you again for your powerful voice and putting it out there. Grateful.

Oh gosh, that sounds pretty awful cobbling together what you can and being conscious of your dear husband’s unwellness. Sigh. No answers but hey,you wrote and shared a post and there were some lovely things there including enjoying raspberries and strawberrries with cream. Yes pleased! I hope the week ahead is a better one. Sending love from Australia xx

That garden looks lovely! And I too have had adventures with putting unintended items on top of the stove. My mother in law has a lovely memory of a burn mark on her beloved wooden cutting board given to her by my husband decades ago 🫣

Hoping this week is better Katherine! I turn on the Aquarium channel for my grandkitten when we leave so I totally understand H! I have been waiting to get into the garden but the weather is sopping wet, chilly, winds that are not normal...so the garden is completely out of control! So I love this idea...your garden is a grand experiment! That said...I picked up three bags of dirt this am...and am ready for the fun to begin!💚💚💚💚💙💙💙😂🥰🙃🙃☺️☺️

Oh dear, I hope things become less overwhelming and scattered soon. In the meantime, have you heard Patrick Wolf's new song "Hymn of the Haar" yet? It's about walking (with one's sadness) along the cliffs of Kent and specifically Dover, and goes deep into the landscape, and I think you will appreciate it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuetTi8TZ1o
