Spot on suggestions. My Head of Dept asked me to make a fun reliquary for The Forth World Congress of Psychology. It was needed ten days after my MA Dissertation and it was the best thing ever. I decided to bring the three choughs on the Canterbury arms to life so would have a time writing then a time with glue and foam and tissue paper. The birds each got a character and I wrote silly bios. Mildred the adventurer, Botolph the serious guardian and Bert who got distracted and loved eating. The dissertation got in on time and the reliquary was a success guarding delegates memories
I have such gratitude as always for your wisdom and thoughtful words. I have “normalize rest” as my current mantra. It is cyclical like everything else and sometimes more is needed and sometimes very little, but either way it’s OK! It always helps knowing people I really admire find this to be true too.
I like a drive in silence too 🚙 and yes the importance of rest. How I can devalue this. I love your reminder. I’m in therapy and working on my thinking function. The exhaustion is real for sure.
I love these 10 things Katherine. I found the summer brutal and have had a realisation that I am still trying to live in ways not meant for autistic me. I need time to think! Your 10 things feel like a timely reminder to get off the relentless ‘do’ treadmill. Thank you
Thank you Katherine, I have found myself stuck with a particular project and unsure where to move with it so I keep putting it off. I think that the procrastination about it is primarily because of nerves! But anyway, your question 'How can I make more space for my current project?' is a question that I might print and pin to my wall!
I so appreciate this - thank you! I am not a writer per se but there is writing and creative work in my job and I do find myself getting stuck. These are wonderful suggestions. Acknowledging tiredness, making space to "listen" to what the work is telling me and creating opportunities of silence are those which really jumped out at me. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom and insights gained from your lived experience.
#5. Non-verbal activities - I love that suggestion because it’s so true! Even if you love words, you need a break from them sometimes. What a great list 👍

Thinking is tiring! So easy to forget that.
